Logan County Greenways Plan:
Greenways are bands of open space that provide habitat for wildlife, preserve routes for species migration, filter pollutants from water, and enhance scenic and aesthetic qualities. Greenways can expand recreational as well as social, cultural, and economic opportunities.
The Logan County Greenways Plan is a local effort to guide future planning for greenways and open space throughout the county. The need for a greenways plan arose from the need to address urban and environmental problems while meeting the Counties need for recreational and open space.
The Logan County Regional Greenways Plan identifies a vision and recommends a course of action to achieve a county-wide system of greenways. The document presents a vision and suggests recommendations as well as a description of the process used to develop the plan.
Logan County Comprehensive Plan:
The Logan County Comprehensive Plan is developed to act as a guide to the future social, economic, and physical development in the county. The last plan, named “Acres of Opportunity” was developed in 2006.
The distribution and intensity of land use are primary influences on the sustainability of growth and are central considerations on the allocation of future land uses. Land use planning endeavors to balance the social, economic, and environmental needs of the community. Both the quantity and location of land developed for various uses have enormous impact on the livability, economic soundness, and environmental balance of the region.
An updated Comprehensive Plan is scheduled to begin in late 2024.
The Comprehensive Plan presents guidelines for coordinated actions that reflect general, community wide consensus in support of sensible growth, to preserve and enhance the quality of life for county residents. It considers community visions and establishes regional goals, objectives, and policies to guide growth. It also identifies plans for the development of future land use, transportation, and selected community facilities.
